Dr. Vishu Mehra Ph.D. has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, at Hindu College, Amritsar since 2015. Presently, he holds an additional charge as NSS Coordinator of the boy’s wing in college. He obtained his Master’s degree in Applied Chemistry from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in 2007. In 2007, he joined Jubilant Chemsys (R & D) at Noida and worked as a Trainee Research Associate in the field of organic synthesis. He joined the research group of Dr. Vipan Kumar in 2009 in the Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University, and worked extensively on the synthetic transformations of C-3 functionalized azetidin-2-ones leading towards the synthesis of functionally decorated heterocyclic compounds having biological relevance. He is also working on designing synthetic conjugates of medicinally active compounds to architect novel hybrid pharmacophores with higher potential and efficacy as compared to their analogues. He has received the best poster presentation award in an international conference held at Punjab University, Chandigarh in 2011. In 2013, he was awarded Senior Research Fellowship from CSIR, New Delhi to carry out research work at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. He was also awarded with Post Doctoral Scholarship from the University of Kwazulu Natal, Southafrica in 2015. He has published 21 research papers in journals of international repute and one book chapter published 2 at international book series. His work has been cited in many journals of international repute and the total citation of his work is 354 having an h-index 13. He attended various scientific national seminars, webinars, and workshops in his carrier.
